Dr. Ryan Goessl   

   

Dr. Ryan Goessl is Executive Director and Conductor of Camarata Music, Arts Ambassador of Korea Business Leaders' Association, Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Choral Conducting (Hansei University), Master of Music (University of Southern California), Bachelor of Arts in Music (Luther College), Honorary Citizen of Seoul.

 

라이언 게슬은 카마라타뮤직의 지휘자이자 대표이다. 미국 루터 컬리지(Luther

College)에서 음악학 학사, USC(University of Southern California)에서 성악 석사, 한세대학교에서 합창지휘 박사를 졸업하였다. 한국 기업인연합 문화예술 대사이자 서울시 명예시민이다.

 

Dr. Goessl is the conductor of Camarata Music's Chorale, auditioned Chamber Singers, and orchestra, which receive acclaim for their high level of artistry and conviction to the choral art. Camarata Music has been honored in guest performances by the President of South Korea, Mayor of Seoul, Ambassadors to South Korea, numerous embassy and

chambers of commerce engagements, and regular festival guest invitations.

 

라이언 게슬은 100 여 명 정도의 인원으로 구성된 카마라타코랄을 지휘하고 있으며, 이 외에 합창 음악계에서 높은 완성도로 명성을 쌓고 있는 중창단인 챔버싱어즈, 카마라타오케스트라의 지휘도 맡고 있다. 카마라타뮤직은 청와대와 서울시 초청공연을 비롯하여 한국 주재 각국 대사관에서 개최하는 다양한 행사에 초청을 받아 활발한 활동을 하고 있다.

 

In 2018, Dr. Goessl was honored by Seoul, by being given the distinction of being an Honorary Citizen of Seoul. Dr.Goessl has received Excellence in Choral Music awards from the the U.S. Embassy of Korea and the Blue House from the President of South Korea, along with numerous solo music awards. He is past Assistant Professor and International Music Coordinator at Hansei University. In 2019, the Camarata Chamber Singers won the Presidential Choral Competition’s “Best of the Best Award”. In 2021, Dr. Goessl was appointed to the World Choir Council, consisting of leading choral conductors from around the world.

2018년에는 국내에 거주하는 외국인으로서 음악을 통해 문화교류에 기여한 공로를 인정받아 서울시로부터 명예시민으로 선정되었다. 합창음악 공연과 솔로 공연으로 주한미국대사관, 청와대, 이 외 많은 곳으로부터 공로패를 받았다. 그는 한세대학교 조교수를 역임하고 국제 음악코디네이터로 활동하였다. 2019년

카마라타챔버싱어즈는 대통령배 합창대회에서 최우수상을 수상하였다.

 

Most recent conducting performances include: Ramirez Misa Criolla, Schubert Mass in G, Bach’s B Minor Mass, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Mozart's Requiem, Handel's Messiah, Fanshawe’s African Sanctus, Quintana’s Mass from Two Worlds, Brahms' Liebeslieder Walzer, Neue Liebeslieder Walzer, Duruflé’s Requiem, Fauré’s Requiem, Vaughan

Williams' Five Mystical Songs and Fantasia on Christmas Carols, and numerous guest performance appearances, alongside over twenty yearly performances of the Camarata Chamber Singers. In addition, Camarata Music and Dr. Goessl regularly perform in international choral festivals, both in Korea and overseas.

최근 공연한 합창곡으로는 라미레즈의 <미사 크리올라>, 슈베르트의 <G장조 미사>, 바흐의 <B단조 미사>, 멘델스존의 <엘리야>, 모차르트의 <레퀴엠>, 헨델의 <메시아>, 팬쇼의 <아프리칸 상투스>, 퀸타나의 <두 개의 세계 미사>, 브람스의 <사랑의 왈츠>, <새로운 사랑의 왈츠>, 뒤뤼플레의 <레퀴엠>, 본 윌리암스의

<다섯 개의 신비로운 노래들>, <크리스마스 캐롤 판타지아> 등이 있으며, 대규모 합창단인 카마라타코랄은 년간 3~4회의 공연을 한다. 활발한 활동을 하고 있는 중창단인 카마라타챔버싱어즈는 게스트로 참여하는 공연을 포함 년간 20여 회의 공연을 한다. 이 외에 카마라타뮤직과 라이언 게슬은 국내외의 국제 합창 페스티벌에서 정기적으로 공연을 해오고 있다.

In addition to Camarata Music, Dr. Goessl is active in the Korean and international community through multicultural and arts culture activism and promotion. He founded a live music venue in the Itaewon area, exploring a variety of music styles, and promoting the local music scene through performance and support of local Korean and international

bands and musicians. He also frequently collaborates with professional choirs and conductors in Korea on a variety of projects and events, including, most recently, the National Chorus of Korea and their concert tour in the United States, in February, 2023.

카마라타뮤직을 이끌고 있는 라이언 게슬은 국내와 국제를 상호적으로 아우르는 다문화 예술활동을 추진하고 꾸준히 활동해오고 있다. 그는 이태원에 라이브 공연장을 만들고 다양한 스타일의 음악 및 공연을 탐구하고 있다. 각국의 다채로운 지역색을 가진 음악들과 다양한 장르의 뮤지션들을 국내로, 한국의 밴드들과 뮤지션들을 외국으로 소개함으로써, 공연의 기회를 마련하고 상호적으로 소통할 수 있는 통로를 만들어 음악활동을 지원하고 있다. 한편, 프로페셔널 합창단과 지휘자들과의 합동 공연들을 기획하고 다양한 프로젝트와 이벤트를 진행하기도 한다. 최근에는 국립합창단의 2023년 2월 공연 투어를 함께 진행하고 있다.

Dr. Goessl is a member of the World Choir Council, representing Korea and the United States, the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), International Federation of Choral Music (IFCM), Korea Choral Directors Association (KCDA), Korea Federation of Choral Music (KFCM), National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), Korea International Music Educators Association (KIMEA), and College Music Society (CMS). Dr. Goessl also maintains an active voice studio, teaching twenty plus students weekly in voice technique, style, and vocal health.
